About Me
Why I'm building this?: AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini — are changing how people find tools and businesses, and a wave of new software has shown up promising to track (or improve) whether a brand gets cited in those answers. Almost all of it is priced and written for enterprise marketing teams. I'm building this site to actually test the tools that are realistic for a solo consultant or small agency to pay for — and to be honest about it: this is a learning project, not an established authority pretending otherwise. I'm testing these tools hands-on, in real time, and publishing exactly what I find.
How I actually test each tool
Every review on this site follows the same process:
1. Sign up with a real account — free tier or trial, never a vendor-supplied demo.
2. Track the same target across tools for a fair comparison.
3. Run a fixed, real-world prompt set — the kind of question a solo consultant or small agency owner would actually type into ChatGPT or Perplexity, not a cherry-picked best case.
4. Screenshot everything — every number in a review comes from a real screenshot or export from that account, not a vendor's marketing page.
5. Note the rough edges honestly — pricing that turns out not to be free, a setup step that didn't work, a feature another tool handled better. A review that only lists strengths isn't a real review.
What this means for you as a reader: If a tool changes its pricing or features after a review is published, the review reflects the date it was tested — I'll note that plainly rather than silently updating it to look current. If I get something wrong, I'd rather be corrected than pretend otherwise.
A note on how this site makes decisions: This site may eventually include affiliate links to some of the tools reviewed. Where that's the case, it will be disclosed — and it doesn't change the verdict. A tool gets recommended because it tested well, not because of a partnership.
